Updates I Enjoy Hearing

The bunnies are all doing good, thankfully. They are continuing to fair well even through the storms we've had pretty much every day lately. The thunder can be incredibly loud and the lightning incredibly bright (almost like day light)!

Today I received an email from Suzanne in California who bought a sweet little lynx doe from us a few months ago. It was a great update, so I thought I would share ~

I had to drop you a note to let you know that our little lynx doe, Molly, has bonded with our other doe, Chloe. It took about three weeks, but it was all worth it, as now they are so attached to each other! It was wonderful to see how much Molly perked up once she had a friend to play with. She now gets alot more exercise and we see her run and jump often.

We are thrilled we brought Molly into our home, as she is sooo sweet and affectionate. (Just like you said!) She seems to be the favorite of both the kids and our guests. We adore her.

I totally enjoy receiving these kind of updates! It is what makes selling pets so nice, to receive updates on how well the bunnies are doing. Aren't they adorable together?! Thanks Suzanne & I'm so glad you guys are enjoying her.

Well, not much else going on with the bunnies. I am almost finished with the website makeover. Just have to finish transferring the Kit Color Guide over. Hopefully it'll be live next week!

Up to 30

The baby count is up to 30!

Jenny kindled to 6 babies on Saturday - all solid self & agouti black based colors.

It was a slight disappointment, but not a big surprise, that Jenny didn't have any chocolate colored babies. One of the reasons I was so glad to trade for her was that she was supposed to be out of a chocolate chestnut doe, which would mean she carried chocolate. But, I have bred Jenny to 2 chocolate colored bucks - Kaden & Brantini - and she hasn't had a single chocolate in the litter. Which means she does not carry chocolate and someone's color has to be off on her pedigree. Got some figuring out to do,I guess!

I am hoping to get some pictures of my keepers from the 7 week old litters tomorrow, Lord willing.

The 4 does bred the 22nd all palpate positive! Yay! Hopefully everything will go well with their litters. Just have to palpate Clara tomorrow . . .

Kaden is sold and will be going to a breeder in Kansas in a couple weeks :).

Well, not much else to report for the time being and it's getting late . . .

Babies are coming

It's been 10 days since I bred Brandy, Tara, Tatianna, Clara, & Laci, so I palpated the does this morning. All of them except Brandy palpate positive. Yay!

I'll repalpate Brandy in a few days, since I really expected her to take. She was so ready to be bred and Kaden "got" her 4 times. Hopefully I'm just missin' the babies.

Jenny has several chinchillas in her litter. 3 of the brokens are chins and the other 2 are chestnuts. 2 of the solids are chins and 1 is a chestnut. I'm glad they aren't all chessies!

I finally was able to put a mouse trap in the barn. I caught a mouse first thing Saturday morning. Yes! I haven't caught another one yet, but I think I just need to move the trap to another place.

The mouse trap we have had the most success with and use is the Victor TinCat trap. It's a metal box that has two entry ways into it. The mice can get it, but they can't get back out. You just put some bait in the middle of the box and the mice will go for it ;). The TinCat we have has a clear top so you can see without picking the box up if there are mice in it or not.

The first time I used this trap in my original barn in California, I caught 8 mice in one night. There was a major mouse problem there. Those were the days when I would see the mice come down into the rabbits feed bowls and eat the pellets. I would have to grab the mice by the tail (with gloves on, of course) and deal with them. That's when the good 'ole barn cats come in handy!

Picture time!

I took some time this morning to take a few pictures that needed to be updated on my website, namely Kaden & Kaylee. I also took some pics of Chocolate - all the pictures are up on the site now.

Here's Kaylee. She's doesn't look so hot right now (especially her body), but I thought she needed some new pictures on the site, instead of her 8 week old baby pics.

Here's Chocolate. She just needed some new pictures!

And, finally here's my sweet boy Kaden. He's a naughty little guy and is so hard to pose. But, after letting him run around the barn for a few minutes and working with him to sit still for a few minutes, I was able to get some half-way decent pictures of him. He definitely still has some growing to do, but I think he'll fill in. He's still only 7 months old.

This pictures shows Kaden's personality so much!
