Pictures and Oh-So-Cute Babies

Howdy everyone! The bunnies are doing good. The babies eyes are opening and getting oh-so-cute. I'll leave it at that and let you enjoy the pictures!

Someone is spoiled rotten! Justin surely enjoys being the "King of the barn." He knows his name now. And has to come up for pets and loving.

We have babies!

Everything has been going good with the bunnies. I just keep forgetting to blog here. It's been a crazy month with the weather. We've had warm days. Then snow. Then ice. Then rain. Then hail. Then cold. Then thunderstorms & lightning. It's been up and down like crazy.

We also have two new litters! Malia had a litter of 8 (5 live) on Feb. 24th. And then Abrielle had a litter of 7 (6 live) on Feb. 25th. Lots of chocolates, lilacs, a few blues and even a black.

I also got my membership renewal packet from the AMLRC a couple weeks ago and found the new business card inside. It has two pictures from my rabbitry on it. Pretty cool :)!

Spring Photography Pictures

Almost every year a photographer (or a few) rent out my baby bunnies for spring photoshoots. They sure get some cute pictures with the kids. I found a CD from a photographer who had rented a couple bunnies out a couple years ago - Lori Zeller Photography in Tulsa, OK.

I don't ever remember sharing these pictures, so I thought I'd share them now.

Vitamin A, Barn Cleaning & Babies

The weather was absolutely beautiful day. It felt like springtime and it's only the beginning of February. Wowzers. Praise the Lord. So, I did a big cleaning of the barn - trays cleaned, cat litterboxes changed, barn swept, etc.

Once springtime really rolls around I plan to do a deep-cleaning of the barn by taking everything out and scrubbing the cages, walls, floor, etc. It needs a good deep cleaning once or twice a year (at least I like that - I'm kind of picky ;)).

I decided to let Justin have free run of the barn. I had to keep a lid on his retired cage, otherwise he'd jump/climb out. So, I thought I'd move him out and see how he does. He's SO hyper active, so we'll see if he can manage being out :).

I moved Miss Lily (my brother's 9 week old French Lop) into Justin's old retired cage. I think she is probably a French Lop/Rhinelander cross (like someone trying to bring in the tri colors to the French Lops), as her ears are up and down and all funky. Not too big of a deal though, as my brother likes her so much and she is such a sweet and funny girl.

As you may notice, all the waters are "yellow." They are yellow from Aqua-Vites and Apple Cider Vinegar being in the water. I have had some serious breeding issues the past few months. My bucks and does will breed, but no one takes (except for a doe here and there, but even then I've had babies born early or DOA). So, I decided to research and see if I could figure it out.

A lot of other breeders in Oklahoma are having similar breeding problems. Through research they have found out that due to the drought, Vitamin A levels in the feed (especially the alfalfa) are too low. So, I'm supplementing with Aqua-Vites and Apple Cider Vinegar (high in Vit. A) to see if this will make a difference. I was considering switching feeds, but I do not want to unless I absolutely have to. So, hopefully this does it. The rabbits have also been getting some carrots too for the Vit. A. I'll report back in 10 days to see if all the does I bred tonight took, Lord willing :).

In other news, my family's goats are all popping babies out! They have had 26 babies born so far this year. Mini Nubians & Nubians. They are all so adorable. Since all the babies are bottle raised, they sure are fun and cute to have around. Because it was such a gorgeous day today, the babies got to run around in the x-pen outside for a little while. So, I took some time to watch the kids :).

What a beautiful sunset there was tonight!

Goodnight!

The Haps

Well, I haven't posted on here for awhile. There hasn't been much to report with the bunnies right now. They are all doing good. I was really sick for a good couple weeks, so I wasn't able to do much of anything with the bunnies.

The weather has been really finicky for the last month or two - up and down. 40-50 degree weather, then down to the 20's and teens. That's Oklahoma for ya! But, I think it has made it harder for the bunnies and getting them back in a routine of breeding (since I took a break for the summer). I've got several does bred right now, so hopefully we will have lots of litters soon!

I'll just share a few pictures for now:

Here is Hoppin's SweetPea. She's my youngest junior in the barn right now - about 3 months old. She's out of Ganache and Goldie. She earned her name because of her personality. She's the sweetest little girl ever.

Courtney is my retired girl who has the uterine cancer/tumor. It's been 2 years this month since she had the problem with her first litter (which never delivered), but she is doing amazingly well. Very interactive and aware. She loves her oat/barley treat mix at night. She continues to surprise me!

And my other retired baby, Justin. He is always running back and forth, chewing on the cage wire begging for attention. Such a little ham and so spunky!

Goldie, one of my lovely does. She cracks me up, since she is always wanting something to munch on - even if I just fed them.

Bacardi is my youngest buck. Just about to turn senior. He's a little shy when it comes to breeding so far, but hopefully we'll have some nice babies from him sooner than later.

Can't forget the barn kitties!

Calevyah is our old doggie on the ranch. She's 15 years old this year and still hanging in there. She can't hear, but can still see.

And the newest addition to the barn: a little 7 week old French Lop baby doe. We got her when she was 5 weeks old. She is going to be just a pet and is mainly for my little 8 year old brother. He named her Lily and they are such a cute pair. She's very curious and out going, but so mellow when she's in his arms. We plan to teach her to walk on a leash and be litterbox trained. So, should be a fun adventure.
