Springtime in California!

It was a beautiful day today, and the flowers are out, so we set an x-pen up out in the field of flowers and took some pics of the buns.

On another note, my white buck, Silence, is reserved for Heather and 4 of the cages I had (3 of which were pictured on my site) are sold.

New Website!!

After having my Yahoo! site get shut down twice in the period of a week (!), I decided to buy a domain name through another web hoster. I am still keeping the Yahoo! site up, but I will start referring everybody to the new site.

In a year or two, I'll shut down the Yahoo! site, Lord willing, once most of the traffic is going to the new site.

So, I made a new design and have it on my new site, which is . . . www.hoppinherdofhares.com

I'll be switching the color guides and rabbit care info over to the new site as time permits, but as of right now, it's just linked to the Yahoo! site.

Last doe to palpate . . .

My last doe to palpate is one of my new Canada girls, Totsie. She's 10 days along today, so I palpated her this morning and she is full of babies :)! Yay! We bred 6 does and all 6 took, praise the Lord. Their due dates are:

Sugar - 4/7

Milky - 4/7

Mocha - 4/9 *first timer

Amber - 4/10 *first timer

Val - 4/13

Totsie - 4/15 *first timer

I've got 3 first timers and 3 experienced excellent mothers due. I don't expect the first timers to have problems, but we'll see . . .

Hoppin' Herd of Hares is moving . . .

Some things have come up in the past few weeks and we have decided to move to Oklahoma in the next few months. We are hoping to be moved by September, Lord willing.

I will be taking most of my rabbits with me. I have 21 right now that I'll be taking, plus there will be a few more, from upcoming litters and I should be getting another rabbit from someone too, Lord willing.

I will be back out to California at least once a year, if not twice a year, Lord willing. I also know people who travel around the states, so I should still be able to work things out with all you California and west coast breeders that I work with so often, Lord willing.

I have 6 does bred right now and those will be my last litters until we are in Oklahoma. If anyone would like anything out of these upcoming litters let me know.

I also have a couple seniors that I am letting go because of this move.

If anyone in Oklahoma, or along the route of the I-40 would like rabbits from us, contact us. I'd be willing to hold the bunnies for you and bring them with us along our way to Oklahoma.

We are also selling our house on 2 1/2 acres for $99,000. To see more info and pictures about our house, go here.

Website is back up and running!

The website is back up and running, praise the Lord :)! I am in the process of getting a domain name through a different web hosting service. The URL for the new site will be www.hoppinherdofhares.com. I have the site all designed and ready to go (it'll look very cool!), I am just waiting for the domain name to be activated (should be up and functioning in about 24 hours).

WEBSITE DOWN & More

The site is still down . . . This is the second time it's happened in a week though, so I'll be getting another domain name through a different web hoster (hoppinherdofhares.com) as a back up, but still using the geocities site if they can get it back up!

Also, I palpated Val today and she is prego! Plus, I re-palpated Milky and she is prego also!!

WEBSITE IS DOWN!

ALERT!!

I just found out right now (late Sat. night) that my website is down. If you have any questions or need any pics or anything, please email me at

qf@gotdownsyndrome.net or feargod@atruechurch.info

I am working on getting it back up, but Yahoo! GeoCities is not open again until Monday morning, unfortunately!!!

What's going on here . . .

Not too much is going on with the buns here.

Of the 6 does I have bred, 3 of them palpate positive (Sugar, Mocha & Amber), 1 is not prego (Milky), and I have to palpate the other two does, Val & Totsie, next week.

Lisa Davis (Milkhouse Lops) and I will be doing a trade in June, Lord willing. I had told Lisa a couple years ago that if she ever sold her doe, Milkhouse's Ivory, to let me know. She contacted me earlier this year saying that she will most likely be ready for Ivory to move on after a litter (in time for the WA state convention). She wanted a chocolate buck, so we decided to do a trade. Brandy has a gorgeous broken chocolate buck in her litter (BD2) and hopefully Lisa & I will be trading in June.

This is the broken chocolate buck, BD2:

And, here's Ivory:

Supplies for sale & bred does

We've got several supplies up for sale, as I mentioned in a previous post. Pictures and info can be seen here.

I've bred another doe - Totsie. I wanted to be able to breed Totsie before she turned a year old and now was the only time I could. If I didn't breed her now, then I'd have to wait until October or later in the year, since I won't be able to do anymore breedings until that time for certain reasons. So, I went ahead and bred her to Daiquiri on Saturday, the 15th.

I palpated Sugar today and she palpates positive! Yay! I'm excited to see what she has, even though I won't be able to keep one of her babies at this time.

Some new for sale items & buns

I've got a few cages and some metal trays for sale.

I will have to look to see how many trays I have and the exact sizes. Today is very windy, so I'll work on getting pics and more details of these trays and the other cages I'll list below in the next few days. I'll give the price for the lot of the trays later on. Individual trays will be $1 or $2.

1 - 4 hole hanging cage - 3 of the holes are 15"x24" and one of the holes is 30"x24". The doors have nice latches on them. Two holes have a feeder and the other holes have spots cut for feeders. In good condition. $15

1 - 24"x24" cage. Nice sturdy cage. Has a spot for a tray, but I do not have any tray. Has feeder attached. $5

1 - 24"x30" cage. Sturdy cage. Has a sloped door/lid (opens from top). $5

1 - 24"x 36" or 40" cage. Has a spot for a tray, and there's a possibility I have the tray out there, but will have to look to be sure. Sturdy cage. The door is slightly small, and could use a bit of a better latch.

1 - 24"x18" cage. Nice cage, in good condition. I've used this cage a lot for taking babies to shows, etc! The roof has a slight bend in it, but that can be fixed easily (just pushed back up!). Pretty sure it has a tray with it.

I'll be selling a few seniors soon. I have one senior buck available right now, but I will have 3 more seniors available soon, Lord willing.

The seniors that will be available soon are:

Hoppin's Cody - pics & info can be seen here. *He will be available in the next month or so.

SSR's Amber - pics & info can be seen here. *may have someone who wants her after her litter is born and weaned*

Hoppin's Mocha Fudge - pics & info can be seen here. *She will be available after she kindles and weans her litter.

New pictures and another breeding

I bred another doe today . . . Val X Junior. This is a repeat breeding. Val just weaned her babies a week ago or so (they were 8 wks old anyways!), so I decided to repeat the breeding that I got Kristen (& two other pointed white bucks) out of. Hopefully they'll be more does in this next litter!

I took new pictures and typed Brandy's & Caramel's babies today. I tattooed them all earlier in the week (what a chore - 14 babies to tattoo!). You can see their pictures here and here. There's some nice babies in those litters, especially Brandy's babies!

I've decided to keep Brandy's broken chocolate buck, BD3. He's very deep and short along with an awesome head! I haven't decided what I'll name him yet though . . . am thinking of Steven, but not too sure yet. I am considering keeping Caramel's black buck, CC6, since he is nice too, but I am undecided still.

Updated

I updated the site today. I put pictures and information of Tootsie & Totsie on the site. I also added information about the 4 breedings we have coming up. We've sold several bunnies and a few are on hold, so the for sale page has been updated also.

I also put new pictures of our junior does up on the site!

Here's a funny picture of Tootsie & Totsie almost imitating each other:

Tootsie & Totsie are here from Canada

I picked up my two new does on Sunday that I got from Jess & Taryn when they sold out of their Mini Lops. It took about 3 weeks for them to get down here to California. They were transported with a couple different breeders, housed in Washington for 3 weeks and then brought down from Oregon with Marla.

Tootsie & Totsie are a mother/daughter pair. They have lived together since Totsie was born. I have them in my pen that I use for my retired does. Tootsie needs to gain some condition back, so I won't be breeding them right away. Hopefully I can breed them within the next month or so.

Tootsie is not as nicely typed as Totsie, but she makes up for it in her personality ;)! She has the cutest personality! She's super sweet!

Totsie is a 'wild child' . . . she likes to run up and down the pen and all over the place. She is sweet too, but not like Tootsie. Totsie has gorgeous type though!!

Tulare Show & More

We had a long day at the Tulare show on Sunday (3/9). We took 17 bunnies up to Tulare. 4 of mine to show, 1 doe to breed, several pre-sold bunnies and a few for sale bunnies. I came home with 7 of the bunnies I had taken plus my two new does from Canada!

My show results on Sunday were:

*only listing the note worthy placings!*

Open Show A - 65 mini lops; judge Joe Lugo
Hoppin's Daiquiri (Bk lilac buck) - 4/10
Hoppin's Junior (PW buck) - 4/8

Open Show B - 65 mini lops; judge Scott Williamson

Didn't do good at all . . . can't stand how the judge posed the buns.

ML Specialty - 65 mini lops; judge Randy Shumaker

I only entered Daiquiri. He was 7/10, but he got excellent comments from Randy.

I registered Daiquiri, Junior & Mocha. Amber was 2 ounces over the weight limit (she was perfect weight last week when I weighed her!), so I couldn't register her.

I raffled the sable steel jr. buck I had and the registrar won him smile.gif.

The competition was very stiff - Kassi Sieber, Chris Desurra & Annette Stauber were all there. It was nice to meet Kassi, since I'd never met her before.

The central cali shows are much nicer than the southern cali (particularly Pomona) shows, that's for sure!

Chris really liked Junior & my little pointed baby I had there. He's very impressed with how their type is coming along.

I also met Jackie & Caitlyn Vhorhees (sp?) at the show. Caitlyn is a youth ML breeder. Jackie also really liked my pointed bucks I had there!

I bred Hoppin's Mocha Fudge to Michael's registered grand champion opal buck, SSR's Sundance Kid. Michael bred his broken chocolate doe, SSR's Truffle to my buck, Daiquiri. Both does were willing to breed (especially Mocha!), so hopefully they took :)!

It was a good show all around and I'm glad we were able to go!

I bred Amber today to Cody. She willing bred also. Hopefully all 4 of my does that I've bred the past few days all palpate positive . . . got 10 days until then :).

I'll post with some information on my two new does from Canada tomorrow, hopefully . . .

Bred Two Does

I bred two does tonight.

Sugar Dust is bred to Daiquiri and Milky is bred to Cody.

I'll be breeding Mocha on Sunday to one of Michael's bucks.

I hope to breed Amber also, but I am not sure which buck yet.

Tulare List

I got the carriers all ready to go and wrote a list down of who is coming to Tulare with us. I did this so I could be very organized on Sunday morning, when we have to get up really early to head out to Tulare!

Amber - SSD
Rose - BJD
Junior - SSB

Bringing:

Mocha - Breeding to Michael's buck, SSR's Sundance Kid.

Dawn - Sold to Jackie
Perfection - Sold to Jackie
Dock Holiday (Val's REW buck) - Sold to Jackie

Nicolette - Going to Michael

VJ2 (Val's PW buck) - for Shianne/Heidi to look at
VJ3 (Val's PW buck) - for Shianne/Heidi to look at

Broken Blue Jr. Buck (11 wks old) - entering in the raffle
Sable Steel Jr. Buck (4 mths old) - entering in the raffle

Opal doe (Gin's doe) - Going to Ellen

Lilac Jr. Doe (Sugar's doe) - Dropping off with Marla to take back to Oregon
Bk Lilac Jr. Buck (Chocolate's buck) - Dropping off with Marla to take back to Oregon

I may also bring the couple other juniors I have for sale, but I'm not totally sure yet.

So, there's the big list!

Hopefully I'll just be coming home with my 5 bunnies plus my two new chocolate steel does who are coming from Oregon with Marla (they are coming all the way from Canada, but have been in Washington for 3 weeks).

I can bring any bunnies anyone is interested in!

I took individual pictures of the available juniors we have out of our 11 week old to 7 week old litters. There are 8 juniors.

Pictures and more information about each one can be seen here, on the for sale page.

Remember, I can bring bunnies to the show in Tulare this Sunday (3/9).

Updated . . . *new senior buck for sale*

The site has been updated.

We only have one senior available now. I just added him to the for sale page today, actually. It's a REW senior buck, Hoppin's White Silence. He'd be a great addition to any rabbitry :)!

I also put some new pictures up of my two junior bucks, Simin & Brantini.

And to close for the day, I've included a cute picture of one of Val's pointed bucks (7 wks old):

Winnings

Cinnamon's babies from her litter with Daiquiri back in November have been winning at the shows like crazy :). The babies have turned out much better than I expected.

2 babies live in Michigan with Kim & Erika ~ Hoppin's Moseby (bk chocolate buck) & Hoppin's Mia.

Mia took 1st place, Best of Variety, Best of Breed and then Best In Show at a show the beginning of February. She almost took Best 4 class also :). The following weekend she took 1st place again. At this show Moseby was also there and he took 1st place too :). These two shows were 4-H shows, not ARBA sanctioned shows.

Today (Sunday, 3-2) Moseby was shown at an ARBA show and even though he had stiff competition, he took 1st place and got his first leg at only 4 1/2 months old :)!

Another baby lives with Shawneen & Mercedes in central California ~ Hoppin's Roo.

Roo took 1st place at his first show in Turlock, CA in the middle of February also :).

~ Qadoshyah

Some bunnies went to their new homes today!

This morning (late morning), Crystal C. (4-H leader) picked up the 4 bunnies she bought ~ Hoppin's Cinnamon Fizz (sr. doe), Hoppin's Blue Gin (sr. doe), and 2 babies (Milky's bk chocolate doe & one of Chocolate's charlie lilac bucks).

Jasmine (retired sr. doe) also went to a wonderful pet home with Virginia & her family!
